The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) are based on thousands of years of a traditional Mayan healing system. Therapeutic ATMAT treatments address the reproductive and digestive system by externally massaging the abdomen. The techniques used are very effective in connecting mind and body, strengthening the ligaments and muscles that support the uterus and ovaries, relieving congestion and emotional blockages, shifting the perception and attention to where healing is needed, and engaging the body to do what it innately does best: self-healing.
Healing is facilitated by restoring the normal flow of blood, lymph, nerve impulses, chi, and by gently guiding the internal organs into their proper position. A physiological balance will be maintained via feedback loops of communication among endocrine glands.
All of us Arvigo practitioners' timeless appreciation goes to Dr. Rosita Arvigo who passionately dedicated her life to train and gain experience in naprapathy, spiritual healing, and herbology. She developed the Arvigo abdominal techniques under the guidance of her mentor, great Mayan shaman Don Elijio Panti (1893-1996), in Belize.
Don Elijio was the last living link of an ancient Mayan healing system, although he never learned to read or write, he became recognized for his service to humanity with "Distinguished Contribution to Science". Today, his vast body of knowledge continues to be studied by researchers in North America.
My favorite quote by Don Elijio: "....most people think too much. Get them to laugh, half their trouble and sickness will go away, and the blessed herbs will do the rest."
